Master Class in Shenzhen
One day before ISEAT, KLIPPEL will hold a Senior Course of Acoustic Talent Plan in cooperation with the Shenzhen Research Institute of Nanjing University.
Create a comprehensive transducer datasheet in less than 30 minutes
by Stefan Irrgang, Wolfgang Klippel and Jonathan Gerbet
Date: November 1, 2024 | Duration: 9 am to 5 pm | Location: Shenzhen, China |
Electro-dynamic transducers are key elements of active and intelligent loudspeaker systems, providing sound output at high quality for many applications such as mobile phones, hearing aids, home audio, automotive and public address.
For rating and comparing transducers, a comprehensive data set that describes the transducer properties is required. In addition to that, a common measurement task is to create input data for multi-physics simulations of speaker systems. This includes performing measurements in the small signal domain, but also in the large signal domain and in 3D-space. Performing all these measurements requires a high level of expertise, and it is usually very time and space consuming.
This master-class addresses both transducer developers and system integrators. A minimum set of critical and relevant measurements are presented to assess the transducer performance and provide data for system design and simulation. A new method for measuring parameters both in the small and large signal domain is presented. Critical distortion and defect measurements are presented to rate the acoustic quality at high levels. Comprehensive 3D data for both the sound pressure level and the cone excursion is created based on optimized scans with microphone and laser sensors. The proposed measurements are illustrated through practical examples using new measurement and diagnostic tools. A mobile measurement workbench with a small footprint is used to be operated in normal rooms. A typical test sequence is suggested to stream-line, accelerate, and ease the complexity of data sheet creation.
Event tip:
KLIPPEL is excited to participate in this year's International Symposium on ElectroAcoustic Technologies (ISEAT), taking place from November 2nd to 3rd, 2024. Our seasoned engineers, Stefan Irrgang and Jonathan Gerbet, will each present a paper session at the symposium.
