Transducer
Headphones, earphones, hearables and hearing aids are designed to operate very close to the human ear having a completely different load condition compared to normal loudspeakers. Special test gear for mounting headphones and simulating the human ear is required. A reproducible and stable mounting is key for accurate testing.
Usually such devices are using wide bandwidth transducers with very light membranes and without spider. Thus, they are quite sensitive to mechanical damage and need to be tested for impulsive, irregular distortion (Rub&Buzz). Stereo balance, phase matching and sound leakage into the ambience as well as attenuation of outside noise (ANC) are important criteria for headphone performance, especially for wireless audio interfaces. Headsets also require microphone testing in addition.
The tool chain provided by the KLIPPEL Analyzer System helps assessing, simulating, improving the performance and quality of transducers, sub-components and the final product in both the lab and at the end of the production line. This includes testing of material parameters and the formed diaphragm as well as vibration and radiation analysis of the transducer all the way to acoustical performance validation of the complete product. Unique modules like the Rocking Mode Analysis (RMA) help you finding the root causes of undesired transducer rocking caused by imbalances related to design or manufacturing. The system is complemented with microphones, laser displacement sensors, test stands, scanning robotics, ear/mouth simulators, wireless interfaces and sound sources in order to provide full-featured, turn-key test solutions for transducers, analog headphones, digital headsets, and wireless earphones and hearables.
