DIF-AUR Module for Auralization of Signal Differences
The DIF-AUR provides an auralization technique based on decomposition of input signals. Any distortion component may be isolated based on the difference between a reference input signal and a test input signal (that contains additional distortions). Thus, it is possible to isolate irregular nonlinear distortion like rubbing coils and loose particles, but also parasitic vibrations (e.g. of door panels) in complete audio systems. By scaling the isolated distortion component, different auralization output signals are created and exported as WAV files. They are the basis for listening tests, perceptual evaluation or for discussing the target sound quality between engineering, marketing and management.
