Assessment of Harshness caused by Rattling Car Interios
End of Line Testing of vehicles
The rattling noise generated by parasitic vibration of panels, doors, dashboards and other mechanical elements in the interior of the car are extremely annoying, especially in new cars. Those vibrations are excited by the common vibration sources (e.g. motor) but also by the loudspeakers reproducing an audio signal. It is easily detected by occupants and degrades not only the audio performance but also the driving experience and the reputation of the car manufacturer.
