3D Scanning Vibrometer

KLIPPEL developed a new Scanning Vibrometer (SCN) that performs a non-contact measurement of the mechanical vibration and the geometry data of cones, diaphragms, panels and enclosures.

Novel techniques are used to separate radial and circular modes, calculate sound pressure in the far field and indicate critical vibration patterns. Thus the causes of a break-in in the frequency response or defects like a tumbling voice coil can be easily identified.

The Application Note "Cone Vibration and Radiation diagnostics" explains the interpretation of scanning results which gives more insight into the relationship between sound pressure output (directivity), cone vibration (natural modes) and design (geometry and material properties). It summarizes our experiences collected in scanning of all kinds of transducers (microspeakers, tweeters, compression drivers, woofers and subwoofers).
