The Motor + Suspension Check (MSC) measures Thiele/Small and large signal parameters, such as voice coil offset and suspension asymmetry, within extremely short measurement time (0.3 - 3 s). The parameters are easy to interpret and give feedback for process control to avoid manufacturing of bad units. The MSC can be applied to all kinds of electro-dynamical transducers, such as woofers, tweeters, headphones, micro-speakers and compression drivers operated in free air or mounted in a sealed and vented enclosure. No microphones or mechanical sensors (lasers) are required. All information is derived from electrical input current making the measurement immune to ambient noise.

The figure above illustrates the sensitivity of the MSC by measuring the influence of the gravity on the voice coil position. The measured value of 12 micrometer corresponds with the prediction using linear and nonlinear parameters.
